Why PlayerData?
PlayerData builds next-gen performance experiences that help athletes at every level train smarter and play safer. Our R&D team turns raw sensor data into insights used by pro clubs and grassroots teams alike.
If you thrive on first-principles thinking, you’ll enjoy solving problems without existing solutions.
What you’ll do in your first year
- Prototype: Design and break early models that push wearable-tech limits.
- Research: Deep dive into literature, run experiments, and propose novel algorithms as part of a larger team.
- Ship: Own a concept from whiteboard to live beta, presenting findings to engineering and product leadership.
- Collaborate: Pair daily with engineers from all engineering domains; demo iterations to coaches, athletes and stakeholders for rapid feedback.
Expected Knowledge
Required:
- Python and GitHub workflows.
- Solid grounding in linear algebra, statistics, and calculus.
- Knowledge of software design principles.
- Familiarity with code quality and testing best practices.
- Understanding of maintainable and testable code design.
Nice to haves:
- SQL plus familiarity with a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP or Azure).
- Bonus points: experience with wearable sensor data or a personal project that merges sport and data.
You’ll fit if you
- Enjoy reasoning from first principles and making decisions based on evidence.
