About PlayerData
PlayerData is a product-first company, with sports technology that redefines the coach, sports scientist, and player's experiences. We started as a GPS wearable company. But we’re becoming so much more: we create the tools teams across the globe need to collect the data that is most valuable to them, on the field, pitch or court for every team at every level of the game. PlayerData serves soccer, basketball, football, and beyond. We’re at an inflection point. Our product suite is expanding. Our market is growing and the story we need to tell to the basketball world is getting bigger.
The Role
We’re looking for an Account Executive to own the basketball vertical, drive sales, and fuel aggressive growth by bringing our performance technology to NCAA and high school programs across the United States. You understand basketball — the intensity, preparation, and constant pursuit of improvement that drive great programs.
You know what it’s like to lead people, motivate athletes, and manage the organized chaos that comes with basketball season. We are looking for the person who is going to own our narrative within this sport, engage programs in meaningful conversations about performance, health, and safety, and who is going to obsess over our products and our customers.
You will ensure that every performance coach, head coach and athletic director, who encounters PlayerData understands exactly what we offer, why it matters, and why now is the time to work with PlayerData.
What You Will Work On
- Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute a targeted sales plan focused on NCAA and high school basketball programs. Manage the entire sales cycle — from prospecting and discovery to proposal, negotiation, and close — using proven, structured sales processes.
- Pipeline Generation: Utilize your network, events, webinars, tournaments & sales outreach, to gain introductions to key prospects and drive inbound traffic. Maintain accurate pipeline management and forecasting in CRM platforms like Salesforce or HubSpot.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships and be active in the basketball community — attending practices, prep school showcases, and conference tournaments — to stay visible and connected.
- Market Knowledge & Growth: Stay current on trends in basketball performance technology, athlete monitoring, and data-driven coaching. Understand where we win, and be able to clearly articulate the benefits of using PlayerData to prospects. Represent PlayerData at coaching clinics and industry events as a credible, trusted voice in performance technology.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a relentless competitor who is goal-oriented, resilient, and motivated to win, specifically fitting one of these two profiles:
- The Transitioning S&C or Coach: You have a couple of years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach or on the bench (ideally in the NCAA) with a deep understanding of performance technology. You are hungry to leverage your extensive network to aggressively transition into the tech sector and thrive in a sales role.
- The Ex-Player / Current Account Executive selling something you aren’t passionate about: You have been a high achieving AE and know a sales motion, but the product and people you are working with don’t get you bouncing out of bed. You want to use your background playing or coaching college basketball, and you are looking to get back into the industry you love and use the skills you’ve built.
Additionally, you must bring:
- Deep relationships with college and high school basketball performance, and coaching staff.
- A genuine understanding of the basketball ecosystem, how programs operate, how buying decisions are made, and what coaches and performance staff actually care about.
